Highway 401 Widening from East of McLaughlin Road to East of the Credit River
MTO Contract 2015-2018
The Ministry of Transportation has completed the Detail Design and Environmental Assessment for the widening of Highway 401 from east of McLaughlin Road to east of the Credit River (approximately 4 km) in the City of Mississauga, Region of Peel.
The project includes:
Six (6) lanes will be maintained for traffic for the duration of the project. AECOM has been retained by MTO as the Contract Administrator for this project. The construction contractor is Dufferin Construction Company.
Construction commenced in April of 2016, and completion is scheduled for the fall of 2020. Throughout the project, various traffic stages have and will be implemented and periodic off-peak lane closures on Highway 401 and interchange ramps will be required to complete parts of the construction operations. The Second Line West Bridge was removed in 2016 and was replaced with a pedestrian bridge which is now open to pedestrians and cyclists. Construction roadway signing will be employed to provide motorists with advanced notice of upcoming closures. When necessary, signed detours will be provided.

This construction contract is for the widening of Highway 401 from east of McLaughlin Road to east of the Credit River (approximately 4 km). Highway 401 will be widened from its current six-lanes to a twelve-lane core/collector system, including ten general purpose lanes and two high-occupancy vehicle lanes
